Stephen Hillenburg

Stephen McDannell "Steve" Hillenburg[1] (born August 21, 1961-died November 26, 2018) was an American marine science teacher and artist best known for creating the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. He owned the production company, United Plankton Pictures. He wrote and directed certain episodes of Rocko's Modern Life. In season 4, he got promoted to creative director/producer.

Hillenburg sadly passed away in November 2018 from heart failure due to the ALS disease. In Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling, a dedication to Hillenburg is included in the end.
